Laser Light Nights are back at the DOME featuring an all-new 3D experience & fresh playlist!

Sit back, relax and rock out with our new laser light system from "the worldwide leader in planetarium laser light shows," Laser Fantasy! Experience the full 3D excitement! The system features a graphics laser projector with special effects, a haze machine & a new beam projector, plus a fresh playlist of 20+ performances, from Beyoncé to The Beatles! Thanks to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation, every second Sunday at the Peoria Riverfront Museum is FREE to the public!

Join us Sunday, June 9, 2024 as nationally renowned artist Alfred Conteh returns to the Peoria Riverfront Museum and unveils his first ever piece based on a subject outside of his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. His newest piece features a family from Peoria, Illinois, and emphasizes family ties, fatherhood, and the way that we connect to each other. The unveiling will take place at 12:30 p.m. in FRESH: New Directions in Contemporary Art.

On top of unveiling this first-of-its-kind painting, we will be premiering the first ever documentary on Alfred Conteh: The Unseen Majority directed by Arshley Emile of Timberhouse Films. The documentary will premiere at 1:30 p.m. in the Giant Screen Theater, followed by a panel discussion with artist Alfred Conteh, director Arshley Emile, and assistant curator and community engagement coordinator for the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Everley Davis.

Yoga Under the Stars

Yoga Under the Stars

Enjoy a beautiful evening of yoga practice under a starry sky, without worrying about rain or mosquitos! This evening will feature a 15 minute star talk, showing off our summer constellations. Then Heather will lead a one hour yoga practice, with beautiful stars, nebula and planets dazzling on the dome above.

Heather Capperrune has been teaching yoga and curating unique experiences with movement in Peoria for seven years.

Participants are asked to bring their own mats.

Each session will be an hour and 15 minutes long.

The state of the museum is strong! Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum as we look back on a fantastic year, and look forward to another one, even better.

"State of the Museum" presentation led by Board Chair Todd Baker and President and CEO of the Peoria Riverfront Museum, John Morris.

The only multidisciplinary museum of its kind in the nation, the Peoria Riverfront Museum uses art, science, history and achievement to inspire confidence, lifelong learning, and talent. Since opening in 2012, the privately funded museum has provided more than one million experiences through major exhibitions, a permanent collection, interactive galleries, a dome planetarium, giant screen theater and educational programming including curricula-related student visits. The AAM-accredited, Smithsonian-affiliated private nonprofit museum is supported by more than 4,000 members and donors, and is housed in a county-owned LEED Gold-certified building on a campus overlooking the Illinois River.

Dome Planetarium
Our Sun is approaching a period of heightened activity, meaning there will be more solar storms, prominences, and aurora, like the ones that were visible in Central Illinois in May! Enjoy an evening out in the Dome Planetarium while learning about our fantastic star, and how its weather can affect us here on Earth.
Your evening will also include a tour of the night sky, and a flight to the edge of space and back.
Each guest receives an individual Canterbury Creations charcuterie box featuring cheeses, fruits, nuts & more; up to three servings of wine; and an entertaining evening under the stars.

Doors open at 6:50 PM

The program will be in two parts, allowing time to socialize and refill your wine glass between the shows.

Dive into a sea of inclusivity at the Inclusion is Jaw-some event! Join us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, partnering with The Autism Collective, for a day of sensory-friendly fun and exploration.

Admission is free from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m., and we welcome individuals of all ages and all abilities to enjoy a day at the museum.

Enjoy our summer blockbuster exhibition: Sharks, presented by CEFCU! Sharks is the largest exhibition ever curated on the subject by the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and will inspire you with dozens of true to size models, interactives, and so much more.

Additional programming on this Access for All day includes:

• Music from Lucas Miller “The Singing Zoologist”
• OSF STEAM- shark dissection, shark molding, and see sharks in AR!
• "Under the sea" with sharks and other sea creatures through augmented reality
• Pictures with a real mermaid from Windy City Mermaids
• And so much more!

The day will also include a resource fair to support individuals seeking resources and services for autism and other developmental disabilities.
